During deteriorating weather, what is the recommended course of action?

Continue lifting at reduced speed.

Move to sheltered area without stopping the lift.

Increase wind readings by using a gauge.

Suspend operation until weather conditions improve.

When weather starts to worsen, the first priority is safety: stop crane operations until conditions improve. Wind gusts, rain, lightning, and reduced visibility can quickly affect crane stability and load control, making even routine moves dangerous. Suspending work lets you secure the load and crane and reassess the situation before resuming.

Continuing lifts at a slower pace, moving to shelter without stopping, or just trying to “get better” wind readings doesn’t remove the risk. A slower lift can still be destabilized by gusts; moving under worsening weather can put people and equipment in danger; and measuring wind won’t prevent an incident if conditions exceed safe limits.
